A BILL to amend article six, chapter twenty-four of the code of
West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as
amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section
ten, relating to prohibiting private enterprise from using
"911" in their name.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article six, chapter twenty-four of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section ten,
to read as follows:
ARTICLE 6. LOCAL EMERGENCY TELEPHONE SYSTEM.
§24-6-10. Prohibition against using "911" in company name.
No organization of any kind may use "911" in their name
unless they are authorized by law to provide emergency telephone
services for firefighting, law enforcement and medical personnel.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prohibit private
enterprise from using "911" in their name.
Section ten, article six, chapter twenty-four is new;
therefore, strike-throughs and underscoring have been omitted.
